Tech Together empowers the next generation of innovators to create positive change through computing and artificial intelligence.
Tech Together Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to empower the next generation of innovators to create positive change through computing and artificial intelligence.
Inspired by a "think globally, act locally" call to action at the UN's Commission on the Status of Women, we sought to create a program to address the gender gap within our computer science community.
Tech Together was founded by Parinaz Dastur and Talia Ye with the goal of sharing our passion for computing with younger girls and inspiring them to pursue their interests in computing. We strive to provide a strong foundation in computer science by introducing computing fundamentals, engaging them with fun and interactive activities, and walking students through programming challenges.
We coached students online to compete in the American Computer Science League (ACSL), co-hosted in-person meetings, and taught Girl Scouts the computing elements needed to fulfill their Coding For Good badges.

Sessions were conducted at the local libraries for an audience of around 50 middle school students per session. In our library sessions, we progressed from fundamental concepts like variables, primitives, and strings to more advanced topics such as data structures, functions, and recursion. We covered a wide range of concepts, including:
Students were guided on how to draw circles of evaluation (borrowed from the Bootstrap curriculum) for mathematical expressions, and built prefix/postfix expressions by "walking the expression tree recursively." A local professor followed up with a mini-lecture on recursion and drew parallels from the circles of evaluation to fractal trees.
To complement the academic content, we incorporated interactive elements to enhance learning and engagement, including hands-on activities like circuit modeling with micro bits, collaborative work through code segment rearrangement, recursion tracing, and competitive learning through Kahoot! games. Students had a chance to present their unique solutions to challenges, which encouraged all participants to celebrate each other's unique perspectives.







To expand Tech Together's reach, we partnered with select Girl Scouts chapters in our area teaching them the computing elements to earn their Coding for Good badges.
On International Women's Day, we piloted a beginner's Python programming session with a 5th-grade Girl Scouts Troop, teaching algorithm design fundamentals while programming fun games in a 4-hour coding session to 15 students where they earned their Coding Basics Badge. The session culminated with an inspiring speech about NASA's Dorothy Vaughan, a computer scientist pioneer. Additionally, we met with the Girl Scouts to teach them the fundamentals of Game Design and App Development to earn two more badges.






As part of my initiative to close the gender gap in technology, I conducted a session on Computer Science and AI in Ahmedabad, India to a group of children from two non-profit organizations. I had partnered with organizations' leaders to host and organize the session. We were graciously offered a school, Thumbelina, to provide us access to classrooms and high-speed internet.
I presented and taught about the history of AI, how to write programs, and the workings of large language models. The children learned to distinguish between AI-generated content and real content. Through interactive quizzes and games, the children had an engaging experience while learning valuable AI concepts.
I believe that by introducing these topics to young girls, we can inspire them to pursue careers that they want to pursue and contribute to a more diverse and inclusive field.






On September 19th, 1995, countries came together at the Fourth World Conference on Women to forge the Beijing Declaration, a collective vision for overcoming the challenges facing millions of women. The countries ultimately identified 12 critical challenges to address, and today The Beijing Declaration remains a significant achievement for gender equality.
On March 8th and 9th, 2025, Tech Together played a key role in the Global Hackathon, launched by Teens in AI at the UN AI for Good Summit in 2018. As local ambassadors, we not only provided a platform for innovation, but empowered young women with the tools, education, training, and leadership opportunities to create solutions for three UNSDGs—Gender Equality, Quality Education, and Good Health and Well-being.
After this Techathon, the girls became cognizant of the problems faced by women today. For instance, the teams behind Flow Friend and Humenstruate saw the lack of resources and knowledge in women's health as a challenge to overcome. With creativity and determination, they built solutions that will change lives, some teams even looking to patent projects and create businesses.
This is the future we are building: a future where girls are not only learning but leading, creating, and inspiring. The strength of their collective efforts will shape the world for generations to come. Together, we are not just dreaming of change — we are making it a reality.






Throughout the months of April and May, over 40 students embarked on an inspiring and motivational journey through Google’s iconic Googleplex and Bay View campuses. Supported by Tech Together, this hands-on experience brought technology to life, giving students a firsthand look at innovation at scale.
From hearing the captivating stories behind artifacts around the campus to sharing a delicious lunch together, the visit was as fun as it was educational. Our students represented the community with excellence, and their enthusiasm was contagious—with many expressing dreams of returning to work at Google one day!

I was invited by Girl Scouts to lead a hands-on technology and web development presentation for a multi-level group of 30 Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors.
During this workshop, I guided students through the entire lifecycle of building a web project, from initial concept to technical execution:
Core Concepts: Taught foundational artificial intelligence concepts, including vectors, embeddings, and tokens
Technical Implementation: Covered the practical use of APIs, specifically demonstrating how to connect to the Gemini API using Python.
System Architecture: Used flowcharts and graphs to help students visualize data processes and backend logic.
Ideation & Prompt Engineering: Led brainstorming sessions and introduced the five key principles of prompt engineering, enabling students to effectively use AI assistants to build out their ideas.
By the end of the session, every group successfully troubleshot and debugged their code to present a unique, functional, and thoughtfully constructed website.





I partnered with the Cultivating Hope Foundation Inc. to design and lead an intensive technology and AI workshop for a select group of high school seniors and college freshmen visiting from Birmingham, Alabama.
During this immersion session, I mentored students through the full pipeline of modern web development and AI integration:
Programming & AI Fundamentals: Taught core Python programming and introduced foundational artificial intelligence concepts.
API Integration: Covered how to connect to and leverage the Gemini API using Python, using flowcharts and pseudocode to make backend logic accessible.
Design Thinking & Ideation: Guided students from initial brainstorming to wireframing and designing their website concepts on paper.
Prompt Engineering: Introduced the five core principles of prompt engineering, empowering students to utilize AI assistants effectively to build out their platforms.
The workshop concluded with a demo day where students presented fully realized, professional websites built from scratch.

This July, we were excited to launch our 5-day AI & Python Bootcamp, designed to introduce middle and high school students to computer science through engaging, project-based learning.
We were also honored to welcome international professors from Women in AI (ECOSOC), discussed how artificial intelligence is driving innovation across climate technology, governance, smart cities, and other real-world applications.
